Watertown MusicFest: More Than 50 Acts on 3 Stages

Friends of Watertown Music invites you to attend our 11th Annual MusicFest, on Friday, March 15. Doors open at 5:15 and musical performances run from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Watertown Middle School. 

MusicFest is a fun community event, offering something for everyone! The event features over 50 performances, across 3 stages. The variety of music genres includes folk, jazz, opera, classical, acoustic and electric. Performances run from 5 to 20 minutes, so attendees will have the chance to go around and see as many acts as they wish.

Watertown Library Hosting Legislative Breakfast

Watertown LibraryThe Watertown Free Public Library. The Watertown Free Public Library announced it will host local elected officials during an upcoming Legislative Breakfast. The Library sent out the following announcement:

You are cordially invited to Watertown’s Library Legislative Breakfast on March 22, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast pastries and beverages will be available at 8:30 a.m. The guest of honor is State Sen. Will Brownsberger. Our program begins at 9 a.m. We will offer a tour of the Bookmobile and building afterwards, at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Attending legislative breakfasts is a great way to show your support for libraries and speak with local elected officials. We would love to see you.

Shop & Take Free Classes at Watertown’s Studio’s Spring Fling

Fly Together Watertown announced it will be hosting Spring Fling on Saturday, March 23 at its studio located at 100 Parker St. in Watertown. Bring in spring with shopping, performances, community, and fun! Attend the Fly Together Spring Fling and shop amazing local vendors, get connected with area community organizations, watch pole performances, and take free taster classes with our staff! Studio A and B Vendor Event: 2:30-6:30 p.m.

Studio C Free Classes: 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Performance Break: 4:00-4:30 p.m.

Free Classes: 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Watertown Girls Battles Tough Newburyport in Basketball Tourney

WALTHAM — The State Tournament run for the Watertown girls basketball team ended Tuesday night after running into a team that had already beaten a higher seed in the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament. Newburyport, the 27th seed, made a second half run to defeat the 11th-seeded Raiders 56-48 in a game played at Waltham High School. Senior Emma Garapetian dribbles in the Sweet 16 tournament game against Newburyport.

Watertown Porchfest is Coming, Performers and Hosts Wanted

Watertown will hold the first Porchfest on Saturday, May 18, and organizers seek both porches to host performances and bands to perform. The event will be on May 18, from 12-5 p.m. (rain date is Sunday, May 19). Registration has opened, and will continue through April 28. What is Porchfest? Porchfest is an afternoon of free music (and other performances) performed outside of people’s homes – on porches, patios, driveways, and lawns.

Watertown Cable Hosting Several Workshops This Spring

WCA-TV is excited to announce the opening of our new location at 30 Common Street! With two brand new studios, including our first ever Podcast Studio, and other new spaces to learn and create, we can’t wait to welcome back the Watertown Community! Just in time for our opening is our Spring Workshop season! Learn the ins and outs of creating your own show or podcast, get hands-on experience with our field cameras, lighting kits, and more. Find the workshops with their dates and times below:

Watertown Winter Parking Ban Ending Early

Watertown’s winter overnight parking ban has ended early! The Watertown Police Department sent out the following announcement:

The Winter Parking Ban has ended effective immediately, today, Tuesday, March 5, 2024. 

If there is a snowstorm in the next few weeks, it will go back into effect.

Watertown Wrestler One of Top in New England, Basketball & Hockey Teams Hit the Road

Watertown’s Tessa Master reached new heights for a WHS wrestler on Saturday when she placed third at the New England Interscholastic Wrestling Championships. The junior’s run of tournament wins that started two weeks prior at the Div. 3 State Meet, continued through All-States, and to the the quarterfinals of the New England meet in Providence. Then she ran into one of the top athletes in the competition, said Watertown Wrestling Coach Kevin Russo.
