A 47-year-old Watertown man faces a charge of enticement a child under 16 after he invited what he thought was a 14-year-old to his home to have sex, Watertown Police said.

On May 16 at 10:20 p.m., Watertown Police responded to a home on Arthur Terrace after receiving a call from a group called Predator Poachers of Massachusetts that had been corresponding online with the man while posing as a teenage boy. The suspect was identified by Police as Brian Lally, 47, of Watertown, said Watertown Police Sgt. Ken Swift.

“(The group) had been texting back and forth with a 47 year old named Brian Lally,” Swift said. “(On May 16) Lally arranged for the boy to come tho his home to engage in sexual acts.”

There was no boy involved in the incident Swift said.

Members of the Predator Poachers told Police they had been in contact with Lally since April 25 on an app called Cruising. Members of the group arrived first and confronted Lally, Swift said, and then called Police.

“Officers brought Lally back to the station,” Swift said. “He was interviewed by detectives and was placed under arrest.”

Predator Poachers of Massachusetts posted a video of the incident on social media.

Lally was arraigned in Waltham District Court on May 17 on a charge of enticing a child under 16, which, if convicted, has a penalty of up to five years in state prison, Swift said.

      • It is .5 miles / a 10 min walk if taking the roads. I would consider that “a couple blocks”.

In a straight line it is 1,350 feet, so if he is convicted and has to register as a sex offender he will no longer be able to return to his home as it is within 1,500 of the school.

      • Check it again. It is in fact a couple of blocks of the school.
The accused is a former student of the Hosmer coincidentally.
