Police Log: Man Wanted for Indecent Assault Arrested, Load of Brick Stolen from Company

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Aug. 28, 9 a.m.: Officers spotted a van that had been parked in the same spot for a few days. They approached it and saw some household items in the vehicle. They knocked on the window to check on the occupant. A man opened the door and while speaking with him Police ran his license and found that he had an active warrant for his arrest. Thomas Cardoza, 30, of New Bedford, was arrested on the warrant from New Bedford District Court for indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.

Aug. 28, 10:45 a.m.: A vehicle was reported stolen from the lot at Watertown Ford. The 2022 Mercedes was take some time after 9 p.m. on Aug. 27. Police are investigating.

Aug. 28, 4:15 p.m.: An Edenfield Avenue resident reported a missing package. The package contained a Dell laptop and a docking station, worth a combined $1,700. It was taken off the front porch.

Aug. 29, 8 a.m.: Sixteen pallets of bricks were taken from P&M Brick and Block Co. on Arlington Street. They were worth $2,284. Police are investigating.

Aug. 30, 8 a.m.: A bicycle parked near Stop & Shop on Watertown Street was taken sometime on Aug. 29 between 6 and 7 p.m. while the owner worked out at Planet Fitness. The blue mountain bike is valued at $100.

Aug. 30, at 8 p.m.: A person went into Target and scanned two packs of gum in the self-checkout, but left without paying for $310 worth of clothing, home, beauty, and grocery items.

Aug. 30, 10 p.m.: Packages were taken from a building on Coolidge Hill Road. The resident is a professional makeup artist, and the package contained makeup worth $825

Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.: A woman went into CVS in Coolidge Square and took $300 worth of merchandise.

Aug. 31 at 2:41 p.m.: A man stole $112 worth of clothing from Target.

Sept. 1, 3:39 p.m.: A man went into Target with a Nike shopping bag and placed multiple items inside. He took $81 in items.

Sept. 1, 5 p.m.: A woman went into Nike and placed 25 items into a black bag and walked out without paying for $439 in merchandise.

Sept. 2, 1 p.m.: A man picked up a pair of shoes at Nike, took off the shoes he was wearing and put on the pair of Nike Flex running shoes and left without paying for the shoes. They were worth $60.

Sept. 3, 10 a.m.: A young woman, possibly a juvenile, filled a mesh shopping bag at Nike with clothing and left without paying for approximately $500 in merchandise.

Sept. 3, 11 a.m.: A man walked around Roche Bros. and picked up a variety of grocery items. He left the store without paying for more than $116 in merchandise.

Sept. 3: The owner of a vehicle parked on Maplewood Street reported that on Sept. 2 the vehicle had been entered and some credit cards, cash, and sunglasses were taken. Police are investigating.

Sept. 3, 7:53 p.m.: A shoplifter took $260 in merchandise from Target.

Sept. 4, 6 p.m.: Target security reported that a shoplifter came in and took $199 worth of merchandise.
