On May 6, 2025, Watertown Police responded to a 911 call reporting an armed robbery that occurred on an MBTA bus. Watertown Police officers quickly located four suspects hiding in a backyard on Eliot Street.
The investigation confirmed that the robbery took place onboard an MBTA bus within Watertown. Jurisdiction was transferred to the MBTA Transit Police, who subsequently arrested four individuals: David Silva of Brighton, Josue Eduardo Ortega of Allston, and two juveniles from Boston. All four have been charged with armed robbery. The victim and suspects were known to each other.
This successful outcome underscores the swift and professional response of the men and women of the Watertown Police Department and demonstrates the strong coordination between the Watertown Police and the MBTA Transit Police.

Thank you, WPD. More due process served, more criminals taken off the streets (and buses). I’ll leave it to others to suggest racist or nativist motives for the arrests. I’ll just offer my sympathy to the bus riders who suffered the incident, and my gratitude to the police officers who ended it.
