The following announcement was provided by the Jewish Watertown Action Network:
The Jewish Watertown Action Network invites you to attend a showing of the film Tragic Awakening on Tuesday June 24 at 7 p.m. in the Watertown Savings Bank Room at the Watertown Free Public Library.
Given the recent murder of a Jewish/Israeli couple in Washington DC and the attempted murder of several Jewish community members in Boulder, reflecting on anti-Semitism in our own community becomes more urgent. Tragic Awakening examines anti-Semitism since October 7, 2023 as well as its historical roots and how it morphs over time.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged here or via the QR code on the flyer. Questions or interested in joining our list? Email JWAN02472@gmail.com.
In light of this appalling act of hatred only YESTERDAY (during the No Kings protests), I suggest people attend this screening to learn what’s really happening:
“A Jewish grocery store in Brookline was vandalized early Sunday morning when a brick that said “Free Palestine” was thrown through the business’s window, police said.
The Butcherie, a kosher grocery store, is located on Harvard Street in a stretch of Jewish businesses near Coolidge Corner, including Kupel’s Bakery, the Kosher Wok, and Israel Book Shop. It’s about a block away from Congregation Kehillath Israel, a traditional, conservative synagogue.
Brookline Police Chief Jennifer Paster called the incident “a disturbing act of hate and anti-Semitic vandalism.”
Hate may not have a home where you live, but it’s not far away.
