
A Mass of Christian Burial for Garrett James Barry, will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Waltham.
Garrett was born in Dorchester, MA to late Francis G. Barry of Ireland and Ceceila C. (Casby) Barry. He grew up in Brighton and would often share stories of his childhood friendships born out of the neighborhood that endured throughout the years.
Garrett attended Presentation Grammar School, Mission Church High school (Roxbury) and journeyed to the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. His time in Texas fueled his sense of adventure and enriched his spirit. He adored his collegiate friends throughout the years, born out of this his ability to disarm anyone with a joke or a smile.
Garrett was a Navy Veteran, having served on both submarines and aircraft carriers. His love of the ocean was unyielding, His entrepreneurial spirit, led him to start his own business, “Barden,” in Belmont, for over 25 years. His golf and tennis community through Oakley Country Club brought him joy and fostered his social spirit.
He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Marie (Deneen) Barry. Loving father of Sean M. Barry and Elizabeth Anne Barry, both of Watertown. Dear brother of Eileen (Barry) Banta of California and the late Geraldine “Geri,” Myslicki, Lorraine Barry and Jean Marie Barry. He is adored by many nieces and nephews. He loved his family immensely; Beth and Sean were his everything.
After a courageous battle with Chronic Kidney Disease, Garrett passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2025.
A visitation will be held on Friday September 5, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish, 920 Trapelo Road in Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.
