LETTER: Resident Opposed to Resumption of Nuclear Testing

Dear Editor,

Tariffs vs. Resumption of nuclear testing: A Wake-Up Call

Thus far, there has been no formal request for clarification from Donald Trump’s administration by Senators Ed Markey or Elizabeth Warren, nor by Representatives Jim McGovern, Katherine Clark, Ayanna Pressley or Seth Moulton regarding the president’s nuclear testing directive. That silence is deafening.

We need our lawmakers — not just from Massachusetts, but across the aisle and across the country — to right the ship in Washington.

Tariffs are reversible. Nuclear testing is not.

This is not for partisan politics.  Congress as a whole must be held accountable. As Coach Belichick would say to the entire bunch:  DO YOUR JOB.

To be clear; if Clinton, Bush, Obama, or Biden had announced unilateral nuclear testing without congressional oversight, they would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town by now.

The world is watching and erratic behavior from American leadership undermines not just diplomacy — it threatens the very notion of stable governance.

How do you, on a whim, decide that the United States will resume nuclear testing?

We lived through the false narrative of Iraq. Now this and still — no hearings, no briefings, no action.
