Joseph Murgo

Joseph A. Murgo, 85, of Lexington, formerly of Waltham and his hometown of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Murgo graduated from Watertown High School in 1958. He had a long banking career, including at time at Watertown Savings Bank at the end of his career.

He also served in leadership roles for many local organizations, including President of the Watertown Rotary Club, Vice President of the Watertown Belmont Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Watertown Sons of Italy.

Murgo was the devoted husband of Christine (Toomasian) Murgo, he was the father of Joseph C. Murgo, Richard P. Murgo and his wife Laura, and Justin A. Murgo and his wife Michelle. He had several grandchildren: Marissa, Gabrielle, Joseph, Andrew, Christopher, Arianna, and Juliana Murgo.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe Murgo’s life by gathering for Visiting Hours at the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main Street, Watertown, on Sunday November 2, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 920 Trapelo Road, Waltham, on Monday November 3, 2025 at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.

  1. Condolences to you, Christine and the Murgo family, for the loss of your beloved husband.
    Joe will truly be missed. I enjoyed being a Bank Corporator with him, for over the past 40 plus years, and am grateful for our friendship .
    May he rest in Heavenly Peace, and may memories of good times spent together with him, comfort you and your family throughout the years.
