Off-Kendrick celebrates the diverse communities of South Asia through the performing arts with the fourth annual SAATh Festival.

The following announcement was provided by the South Asian American Theater Festival:

Off-Kendrik, the Boston-based nonprofit dedicated to serving the South Asian community through Art, Theater, and Storytelling, will present the fourth annual South Asian American Theater (SAATh) Festival, Nov. 21-23 at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown.

Saath means “coming together”, and the three-day celebration aims to bring people of all backgrounds together for multilingual theatre and cultural expression from across the South Asia diaspora. Tickets are on sale now at saathfest.com

SAATh brings together ten creative groups from the Boston area and across the country, performing ten original productions. Their narratives address a range of issues in multiple languages, from politics in their countries of origin and experiences of immigration to complexities of ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.

The festival is more than a celebration of multiculturalism; it offers insight into the diversity of the South Asian-American diaspora and provides a rare opportunity for education and enrichment. Every performance will be super-captioned in English, making it accessible for all audiences.

This year, there will be a special focus on women artists. The festival will begin with a panel discussion on women artists and their creative pursuits and challenges.

“So often we see women overlooked or forced into certain roles in society and theater,”

said Pragati Bhowmick, SAATh Festival Organizer. “We will host and open an honest discussion about the challenges female artists face as well as the opportunities that are available.”
