Future Planning for Families & Others Supporting Adults with Disabilities: Registration Now Open for FREE 4-session series
We invite you as a resident or whose loved one is a resident of Watertown to attend a free 4-session workshop series to support you in planning for the future. This workshop series is focused on older caregivers who have adult family members with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. Employees of the town are also welcome to apply.
The Workshop covers:
- Overview of future planning
- Importance of acting so your loved one, you and others are prepared for future realities
- Keeping the adult with the disability in the center and advancing his/her decision-making role
- Steps to identify and support your successor(s) as the coach or caregiver
- Establishing a support network
- Reviewing the future planning guide
- Basic overview of residential options and other services
The workshop series will be held on Tuesdays September 15th, 22nd, 29th, and October 6th from 4:30 to 6 pm. Registration is first-come, first-served and will be capped at 25 individuals.
