Watertown DPW Trash and recycling pickup begins again this week.

The City of Watertown announced that trash and recycling collection will resume beginning Monday. The strike continues, but Republic Services will use replacement crews to do the collection.

While trash and curbside recycling resumes, the City’s Recycling Center will not be open, and curbside yard waste collection will not resume this week. See more details in the announcement from the City below:

Trash and recycling curbside pickup in Watertown will resume on Monday, July 7, 2025. Republic Services will be providing service to Watertown using replacement crews while they continue labor negotiations with their striking unionized workforce. Pickups are expected to take longer and occur later than usual, and the City of Watertown appreciates your patience. Republic is unable to provide staff to reopen the Watertown Recycling Center or resume yard waste pickup, so both services are canceled for the upcoming week. We encourage everyone to visit watertown-ma.gov/republicstrike to receive the latest updates regarding this situation, and to read the newly developed FAQs. Residents with overflow trash caused by last week’s work stoppage should visit the city website for information on how to dispose of extra bags.
