
The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Sept. 11: A man was seen taking $539 worth of merchandise from Marshalls.
Sept. 11: Police responded to Target for a woman who was shoplifting. She was stopped before taking anything from the store. Officers discovered she had a pair of warrants. Joanne Lunetta, 43, of Worcester, was arrested for the warrant from Dedham District Court for larceny from a person and another from Boston District Court for shoplifting.
Sept. 12: A check was put into the mailbox in front of the Post Office on Galen Street and it was intercepted and changed so that it was for $9,600. Police are investigating.
Sept. 12: Target reported a woman who took $25 in health and beauty products.
Sept. 12: A Cuba Street resident reported receiving a suspicious flyer that read “Save America, Kill the Liberals.” The resident had not had any problems with neighbors. A few more flyers were found on the street, but none were reported in other areas of town. The resident said it may have been left there because a lawn sign that said “No King, No Tyranny” that displayed in front of the house. Police are investigating, and they informed the Joint Terrorism Task Force about the incident.
Sept. 13: A vehicle parked at the Oakley Country Club was broken into sometime overnight. Credit cards and bank cards were taken.
Sept. 13: A newly planted tree at the intersection of Dexter Avenue and Cypress Street appeared to have been run over. The tree had been planted by the City of Watertown.
Sept. 13: A man took nine PlayStation 5 video games from Best Buy valued at $540.
Sept. 14: A man was seen speeding down North Beacon Street and crossing over the double yellow line. Officer Colton Bailey stopped the vehicle, and discovered the driver had a suspended license after an OUI charge. Ernesto Martinez, 31 of Whitman, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, marked lanes violation, and speeding.
Sept. 15: Police spotted a vehicle driving on Arsenal Street at 2:54 a.m. with the headlights off. The driver was stopped by Officer Bailey. The driver gave the officer what was later determined to be a fake driver’s license. Edgar Lopez Moran, 30, of Allston, was arrested for misleading an investigation and a motor vehicle lights violation.
Sept. 15: A woman broke into a construction site on Pleasant Street and took a bin on wheels. She scaled the chain link fence that had a no trespassing sign on it. The equipment was valued at $300.
Sept. 15: A shoplifter was caught at Target with $332 worth of merchandise. Officer Don Pham responded and the suspect gave a false ID. Later the person’s identity was determined and police found he had warrants for his arrest. Shaun Barry, 34, of North Attleboro, was arrested for shoplifting, and warrants from South Boston District Court for larceny of a credit card, one from Waltham District Court for receiving over $1,200 in stolen property, and two from Cambridge District Court for larceny from a person, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and a second for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property.
Sept. 15: An Orchard Street resident received a call from someone who said the resident had an arrest warrant. Police said that the courts would not be calling people to inform them about having a warrant for their arrest.
Sept. 16: A check was mailed from a box on Galen Street and was changed to a higher amount.
Sept. 17: Loss prevention at Nike informed Watertown Police that they were investigating a man suspected of being involved with organized crime. He had presented a fake New Jersey license and fake Nike employee ID at the Watertown store, and had been seen doing the same thing 44 times in other states and fraudulently received $25,559 in employee discounts. The investigation has been passed to the Massachusetts State Police.
Sept. 17: A woman took $1,573 worth of items from Nike.
Sept. 17: A woman was seen taking $233 worth of merchandise from Target.
Sept. 17: The driver side window of a truck parked on Riverside Street was smashed.
