
This is a packed Watertown weekend with winter and holiday events. On Saturday afternoon there will be an art sale at the Mosesian Center for the Arts with a wide variety of arts including ceramics, paintings, ornaments and jewelry. It’s great for shopping locally and supporting our artists. Saturday evening at Gore Place there will be a dramatic reading by Johnny Kinsman of A Christmas Carol including musical accompaniment by Justin Ouellet and Ann Moss, both local musicians. On Sunday there is a hands-on intergenerational Lego building activity at the Jewish Community Day School, it’s a challenge to build the world’s tallest Chanukiah! Later Sunday afternoon at the library, you can go relax after all the holiday activities with a winter concert given by the Vivace Music School Faculty. No need to leave Watertown this weekend to find some holiday cheer!
MERRY MINGLE
Saturday, Dec. 6. 4-6 p.m.
Commander’s Mansion, 440 Talcott Ave.
The Merry Mingle will feature various children’s activities at no cost including train rides, crafts, stories, live entertainment, holiday displays, character meet and greets, and the lighting of the City’s official Christmas Tree at 7:30pm. The Holidays Around the World zone will move upstairs to the second floor of the Mansion, along with stories read by library staff. Watertown Public School’s All City Choir and Orchestra will be performing in the large reception tent from 4:30-5:30 p.m. DJ Ryan Murphy will also be playing holiday tunes in the tent and Joe’s Variety is staffing the Jingle Cafe with hot cocoa and treats for sale.

Photo sessions with Santa taken by Natalie Nigito Photography will take place on the first floor of the Mansion until 6:30pm for $10 (with all proceeds benefiting future community events). Registration for photos is only available on site on the day of the event.
The Watertown Public Arts and Culture Committee will be hosting a lantern making workshop in the dining room on the first floor for the 2026 River of Light Lantern Parade on January 18th.

HOLIDAY MAKERS MARKET

Join Mosesian Arts for their third annual Holiday Makers Market! Crafters, creatives, artists, and artisans from Watertown, Greater Boston, and across New England will showcase unique, affordable, and giftable creations from ceramics, jewelry, and fiber arts to prints, paintings, ornaments, cards, and more. Enjoy holiday music, treats, and hot cocoa as you browse in the 321 indoor breezeway behind the Mosesian Center for the Arts. Holiday Maker’s Market is part of the Merry Mingle at the Commander’s Mansion.
Admission to the Holiday Makers Market is free. Payment methods for goods vary by artist/vendor and may include cash, check, credit card, Venmo, and other electronic forms of payment.

WINTER CONCERT: VIVACE MUSIC SCHOOL FACULTY

The talented faculty of Vivace Music School are excited to perform a variety of classical and modern pieces. We look forward to solos from Annabrett (soprano), Gordon (trumpet), Yukun (classical guitar), and Elise (saxophone). We are excited for a variety of ensembles from Jane (piano), Christopher (cello), Christy (violin), Yeh-Chun (Viola), Pin-hsuan (Cello), and Lazar (Cello).

BUILD THE WORLD’S TALLEST LEGO CHANUKIAH

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

This holiday season, immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Charles Dickens’s beloved tale, “A Christmas Carol” at historic Gore Place. Performed in the 1793 Carriage House, with its rich history and classic charm. Johnny Kinsman performs an elaborative reading of Dickens’ cherished story featuring the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, his spirited encounters with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, and the heartwarming transformation that follows.
