Two Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident, Victims Were Returning to Church After a Funeral

Two people died Tuesday during a multi-vehicle accident in East Watertown. The crash occurred after a funeral service in Watertown.

First responders were called to Bigelow Avenue at around noon on Dec. 23 for a motor vehicle accident.

“Upon arrival, it was determined that two individuals had succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision,” police said in a statement to WBZ Channel 4.

The names of the victims have not been released.

The two victims were returning to the Armenian Memorial Church following a funeral for another relative, according to a report by WHDH Channel 7.

They were heading back to the church for a memorial meal the burial of their 89-year-old aunt, according to NBC 10 Boston.

The street was closed off for more than four hours following the accident, NBC 10 reported.

The accident took place near the Deluxe Town Diner, which is at the corner of Bigelow Avenue and Mt. Auburn Street, Boston 25 News reported, which lies in the heart of Coolidge Square.

Five vehicles were towed from the scene, WBZ reported.
