On the first night of semifinal play at Saltonstall Park, the top two teams lived up to their seedings and prevailed in each of their best-of-three Papas Elite Basketball League series. See details provided by the League organizers.
No. 1 Donohue’s Kaos Club 69, No. 4 More Than Different 61
The fourth seeded More Than Different gave the top seeded Donohue’s Kaos Club a fight in game one of the semifinals. More Than Different captain Colin McNamara dropped 32 points on Donohue’s, while Dom Black followed up with 10 points. It was not quite enough as Donohue’s took the 1-0 series lead pulling out the victory.
Reid Timmer led the way with 20 points, while Todd Billett added 11 points. Bo Brace and Greg Kelley rounded out the foursome in double figures with 10 points.
No. 2 Zards 64, No. 3 Middlesex Magic 58 OT
The second semifinal game was another barnburner that need a five-minute overtime period to determine the winner. Nick Fiorillo led three Zards in double digits netting 17 points, while Nate Amato netted 16. Joey Flanney dropped 11 points to round out the trio.
However, they were equally matched by an outstanding night from Princeton’s Ethan Wright, who netting 17 points, while mac Annus added 12 points of his own.
These four teams will be back in action Monday night, August 17 beginning at 7 p.m.
