WHS Sports: Girls Lacrosse Earns Tourney Win, Boys & Girls Tennis Hosting First Round Matches

Multiple Raider squads earned spots in the MIAA post-season this spring, and the girls lacrosse team won their first game. Both the girls and boys tennis teams also made the tourney.

Girls Lacrosse

On Memorial Day, Watertown’s girls lacrosse team defeated Tri-County Regional Tech 14-6 at Victory Field in the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament Preliminary Round game.

The Raiders are the 31st seed and improved to 5-15. Next up for the Raiders is a road game on Wednesday at second-seeded Norwell (14-4). The game will be at 4 p.m.

Tennis

The Raiders will send two teams to the tennis tournament, and each will host a “home” match.

The boys earned the 11th seed with a record of 8-11. Watertown will host 21st seed Pope Francis Prep on Wednesday, May 27 at 2:30 p.m. Due to the construction at the Victory Field tennis courts, the match will be played at the Grove Street Tennis Courts, 133 Elm St. in Belmont.

The girls went 11-8 in the regular season and received the 10th seed, and will host 23rd-seed Dedham on Thursday, May 28 at 3:30 p.m. at the Grove Street Tennis Courts.
