During these warm temperatures, the body will work extra hard to maintain a normal temperature. To reduce the risks of these extreme heat conditions, take the proper precautions to protect yourself and others:
Slow down and avoid strenuous activity.
Drink plenty of water, even if you aren’t thirsty.
Eat balanced, regular meals.
Stay in-doors as much as possible, such as the City’s available cooling locations, and limit your exposure to the sun. Also do not leave pets outside for extended periods of time.
Do not leave children or pets alone in a closed vehicle, even with the windows down. Temps can rise significant in a short amount of time.
If you are outside, rest in shady areas and wear sunscreen.
And we always encourage you to be neighborly. Check on friends, family, and neighbors who many need additional assistance during this extreme weather!
