Watertown Sisters Compete in NCAA Field Hockey Tourney, Two More WHS Grads Played in Div. 3 Tourney

Sisters Kourtney (left) and Jonna Kennedy will both be playing in the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament Sunday. Kourtney plays for UConn and Jonna for Boston College. Sisters Kourtney and Jonna Kennedy will each be competing in the second round of the NCAA Div. I Field Hockey Tournament Sunday, as their teams seek a berth in the Final Four. Kourtney Kennedy, a junior defender with UConn, will be playing against Princeton in Storrs, Conn., at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Police Log: Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel & Arrested on OUI, Vehicle Stolen from Parking Spot

Nov. 5, 4:57 p.m.: Police received a report of a man acting suspiciously in a vehicle parked in the Wells Avenue municipal parking lot. When officers spoke to the man they found he was wanted on a warrant. The 67-year-old Waltham man was arrested on the warrant from Cambridge District Court for making annoying phone calls.

Boston Marathon Bomber Appeal Coming Up; Court Docs Show Brother Suspected in Waltham Murders

The case of convicted Boston Marathon Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will be in court soon to appeal the conviction, and recently unsealed documents related to the case show that the FBI believes his older brother Tamerlan was a prime suspect in the killing of three men in Waltham in 2011. Dzhokhar’s appeal of the death sentence for his role in the Boston Marathon Bombings is scheduled to go before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on Dec. 12. The Boston Globe reported that court documents unsealed before the appeal implicate Tamerlan Tsarnaev with the the killings of three men in Waltham — Brendan Mess, 25, Erik H. Weissman, 31, and Raphael M. Teken, 37. Tamerlan died after the shootout with Watertown Police at the intersection of Dexter Avenue and Laurel Street.

Designers to Give Overview of Watertown High School Project on Tuesday

Planning has begun for rebuilding Watertown High School, and a meeting will be held Nov. 19 to discuss the project. School officials seek input from residents about the rebuilding or renovation of Watertown High School, and the public will have a chance to weigh in this week. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, a public forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the WHS Lecture Hall.

Architect Lays Out Timeline for 3 Elementary Schools; Committee Has Concerns About Impacts

Hosmer Elementary School will be the first elementary school in Watertown to begin reconstruction. While the 2019 calendar has not yet reached Thanksgiving, the start of construction at Watertown’s three elementary schools is just around the corner. Scott Dunlap, project architect with Ai3 Architects, provided a basic timeline for the move toward construction at Hosmer Elementary School, the first of three schools to begin the reconstruction process. The Design Development process will be completed later this month. In the spring the project will be bid, and construction will begin over the summer break, Dunlap told the School Building Committee on Nov.

The Watertown Community Foundation’s food drive held in October brought in hundreds of bags of donation. Here are just some of them. A food drive organized by the Watertown Community Foundation this October, in conjunction with Watertown schools and businesses provided hundreds of bags of food for the two local food pantries.
