Get your holiday shopping started with the Friends of the Watertown Council on Aging’s Holiday Boutique. The sale features handmade knitted items, jewelry, ornaments and holiday décor. The Boutique will be held at the Watertown Senior Center, 31 Marshall St., on Thursday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Arrests
Oct. 22, 7:08 a.m.: Police spotted a man known to be wanted on an arrest warrant walking on Arsenal Street near Irving Street. The 45-year-old Waltham man was arrested on the warrant from Boston District Court for assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and two counts of malicious destruction of property. Oct. 23, 8:14 p.m.: An officer spotted a vehicle traveling on Main Street that did not have its license plate illuminated.
The Watertown High School football team put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season on when the Raiders defeated Boston Latin 17-14. Watertown will seek to extend its winning streak when it returns to Victory Field on Friday. The Raiders traveled to White Stadium in Boston on Friday to face the Wolfpack in a non-playoff, non-league game. With two touchdowns by junior running back Karim Monroe, plus a field goal and two extra points by Adam Haloui, the Raiders staked a 17-0 third quarter lead. Boston Latin (0-9) rallied for two touchdowns, but the Raiders held on for the three point victory.
As the clock ran down at Victory Field Sunday afternoon, Watertown High School’s boys soccer team threw wave after wave and shot after shot at the Pentucket net, but the goal the Raiders desperately needed never came.
The Sachems knocked Watertown out of the State Tournament with a 1-0 win in the North Section quarterfinal at Victory Field. The loss was a bitter pill for the Raiders, Head Coach Frank Cacia said, especially after winning the North title and reaching the state semifinal a year ago. “I thought we had a very solid team this year, pieces in place, but you’ve got to catch breaks,” Cacia said. “In soccer it’s competitive. The Raiders took control early in the MIAA Div. 2 North Section quarterfinal against Ipswich and rolled to a 5-0 victory on Sunday morning.
Top seeded Watertown moved a step closer to its 10th straight State Title by defeating the ninth seeded Tigers at Victory Field. Watertown senior Gabby Venezia struck first, less than three minutes into the game. She was assisted by senior Olivia Lampasona. Twenty minutes later, Venezia found the back of the net again. She dribbled the ball in and whacked it past the goalie.

The Watertown High School boys soccer team came out firing on all cylinders, and rolled past Gloucester, 5-1, in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 North Section tournament.
The fourth seeded Raiders (13-5-1) scored early and often in the game at Victory Field against the 13th seeded Fishermen (5-12-1), Friday night. Watertown’s Caiden Kiani got the Raiders on the scoreboard just 1:53 into the match. Alex Egan got the assist. Less than two minutes later, however, Gloucester tied it up off a set piece.
The Rotary Club of Watertown is hosting a raffle where the first prize is $10,000 raffle, and tickets are still available.
The drawing will be held at Donohue’s Bar & Grill, 87 Bigelow Ave., Watertown, on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018. The even runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with hors d’ouevres and a cash bar. Each ticket costs $100, and only 300 will be sold. First prize $10,000, second prize $500 and third prize $200.
