The following announcement was provided by Daniel Lander for State Senate:

Daniel Lander announced today that his campaign has been endorsed by UAW Region 9A, a union representing thousands of workers across the northeast and right here in this district. The endorsement emphasizes Daniel’s commitment to supporting working people who are struggling
under the leadership of a state senator that does not stand up for worker’s rights.

UAW represents workers across greater Boston, including graduate student workers at Harvard who went on strike this spring after Harvard failed to offer a fair contract. Daniel Lander was proud to join the picket line to support workers fighting for fair benefits, protections from harassment, and a livable wage.

“Daniel Lander is the progressive, pro-labor fighter that Suffolk and Middlesex needs. He showed up on the picket line when over 2,000 of our UAW siblings and over 4,000 healthcare workers at MGB were on strike while his opponent didn’t bother. We need a state senator that will back our unions, challenge the cost of living crisis, and stand up to Massachusetts’ broken legislature. As a resident and labor organizer of the district, I am confident that Daniel is up to the task,” said Brianna Fougere, Steward in UAW Local 2324 and member of the UAW’s political council in Massachusetts.

“I’m honored to earn UAW’s endorsement in this race. UAW is fighting for working people across the country, but under the leadership of my opponent, the State Senate doesn’t have their back,” said Daniel Lander. “I’m thankful for their support, and I look forward to fighting alongside them as we take on the architect of the broken status quo on Beacon Hill to ensure everyone can build a good life in Massachusetts.”

Daniel Lander is running for the State Senate to take on the broken status quo and make Beacon Hill work for the people. He grew up in this district and has worked alongside progressive leaders like Senator Elizabeth Warren, Stacey Abrams and Mayor Michelle Wu. Daniel believes Massachusetts can be more affordable and a great place to build a good life. He will tackle the housing crisis, work to transform the MBTA and stand up to the Trump administration. He has been endorsed by Senator Elizabeth Warren, Mayor Michelle Wu, Auditor Diana DiZoglio, the Massachusetts Working Families Party, IBEW 2222, AFSCME Council 93 Boston Presidents Committee, SEIU-NAGE, SEIU 888, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Unite Here Local 26, and many more unions and local leaders.

The Suffolk and Middlesex District includes all of Watertown, Belmont, as well as the Fenway and Allston Brighton neighborhoods of Boston, and West Cambridge. Learn more about Daniel Lander at www.daniellander.com
