Watertown resident Madeleine Jenness will take the stage in Somerville this summer as a member of the ensemble in Moonstruck Theater Company’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard. Performances run Aug. 6-15 at The Rockwell in Davis Square.
A Seattle native now living in Watertown, Jenness has been performing in musicals since childhood and considers singing and dancing among her greatest passions. She was most recently seen as a Sword Dancer in The Concord Players’ production of “Brigadoon.” Her previous credits include Hermia in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Featured Dancer in “The Addams Family,” and a production of “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.”
In “Sunset Boulevard,” Jenness joins the ensemble bringing the glamorous, fast-moving world of Golden Age Hollywood to life. The ensemble appears throughout the production as studio employees, actors, party guests, and other figures surrounding faded silent film star Norma Desmond and struggling screenwriter Joe Gillis.
“I’ve been doing musicals ever since I was a little kid,” said Jenness. “Singing and dancing are great passions of mine, and I’m thrilled to get to work with such lovely people on such an incredible show.”
The production marks Jenness’s first appearance with Moonstruck Theater Company.
Moonstruck Theater Company was founded in 2006 by a group of college students eager to create space for accessible, hands-on theatre. Since then, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit has produced more than 20 mainstage productions and provided training and performance opportunities for students and community members of all ages. After nearly a decade away, Moonstruck returned to the stage last year with “Reefer Madness” and continues its tradition of daring, offbeat theatre.
