Watertown Police Bring Back Prescription Drug Drop Box

The prescription medication disposal box is back in the lobby of the Watertown Police Station. 

The big green box had been at the station a few years ago, but was removed because Police could not handle the volume of medication coming in. “Watertown residents are encouraged to drop off any unwanted prescription medications,” the Watertown Police Department announced. “Residents are kindly asked to place their prescription medications into the available sealable plastic bags prior to disposal. We also have a separate sharps container for the safe disposal of syringes.” The drop box and syringe disposal is part of the town’s effort to combat the influx of opioid abuse and addiction in town.

Watertown Savings’ Customer Choice Awards Will Reach $1 Million Donated

Watertown Savings Bank CEO Ron Dean is pleased to announce that this year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Bank’s Customer Choice Awards. Over the past 20 years, 75 different organizations have benefited and $915,500 has been distributed, the bank announced. This year the total awards given out will be $85,000 (with the top vote-getter winning $10,000) to bring the Customer Choice program 20 year total to $1 million. To celebrate this important milestone, every person who votes in this year’s Awards will be entered into a drawing to receive a $500 Amazon gift card. “The Bank is extremely proud of the Customer Choice Awards because of how many organizations are helped,” Dean said.

Police Log: Man Exposes Himself to Woman, Shoplifters Stopped

Director of Films on Sept. 11 to Speak at Watertown Library

The director of two films looking into Sept. 11, 2001 will be at the Watertown Free Public Library and his films can be seen on local cable. The Boston 9/11 Truth group sent out the following announcement:

Watertown Wins High Scoring Home Football Opener

Watertown High School’s football team turned around a halftime deficit and defeated Arlington Catholic in the opener at Victory Field Friday night. Watertown scored first, after intercepting the Cougars in the first quarter. But by halftime the Raiders trailed 21-12.
