Charles River Chamber Awards Scholarship to Watertown High School Student

The Charles River Regional Chamber announced its 2025 scholarship recipient fromWatertown. See the announcement below. Watertown High School graduate Jessica Camara is a tenacious leader who founded the school’s Medical Club and is determined to excel in her academics. Her chemistry teacher says she “had the maturity and confidence to advocate for herself when she did not understand something, and I can clearly remember multiple times when she would come in during lunch or before school to ensure she completely mastered topics covered.” Camara is a member of the Women in STEM club, and she allocates her leisure time to volunteer at an elementary school. She plans to continue her education at Sacred Heart University to major in nursing, with hopes of becoming a nurse practitioner.

Seniors Invited to Watertown Rotary’s Senior Citizen Cookout

Matt Hanna of Little Local Conversations will lead a talk with the co-Artistic Directors of the Sarasa Chamber Music Ensemble. A Mass of Christian Burial for Garrett James Barry, will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Waltham. Garrett was born in Dorchester, MA to late Francis G. Barry of Ireland and Ceceila C. (Casby) Barry. He grew up in Brighton and would often share stories of his childhood friendships born out of the neighborhood that endured throughout the years. Garrett attended Presentation Grammar School, Mission Church High school (Roxbury) and journeyed to the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. His time in Texas fueled his sense of adventure and enriched his spirit.

Watertown Restaurant Hosting Jazz Performances in September

Listen to live jazz each Wednesday at Branch Line. Watertown’s Branch Line restaurant will host live jazz each Wednesday night in September. Nick Pepe’s Trio will alternate with John Polit’s Quartet each week during the month. “Come for a meal, dessert or just a drink and enjoy live jazz on Branch Line’s heated, covered patio on Wednesdays in September 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.,” the Branch Line announcement said. Branch Line is located in Arsenal on the Charles at 321 Arsenal St.

Registration Open for 10th Edition of Watertown Police Finish Strong 5K

The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Police Department:

We cordially invite you to participate in the 10th annual Watertown Police Finish Strong 5K road race and walk. This event will support the Watertown Police Relief Committee, Watertown Police Association and the Watertown Police Supervisors Association. 

This race was initially established due to the events occurring in Watertown following the Boston Marathon Bombings. It has since grown into a very popular community event for both residents of Watertown and the surrounding communities. The Watertown Police Relief Association was organized in 1936 and changed to the Watertown Police Relief Committee in 2008. Our membership is comprised of sworn personnel, regardless of rank, as well as all retired officers.

Armenian Museum of America’s “The Art of Disruption” Features Paintings & Music by Serj Tankian

The Armenian Museum of America recently announced its upcoming exhibition, “The Art of Disruption: The Art and Impact of Serj Tankian,” a groundbreaking biographical and multimedia showcase that explores the life, art, and activism of Serj Tankian–internationally renowned musician, visual artist, poet, and human rights advocate. The exhibition opens to the public on Sept. 6 and will run through Feb. 28, 2026.
