City Announcement: Understanding Your Electricity Choice

In many Massachusetts communities, residents have options when it comes to how they get their electricity supply. All of us receive a bill from Eversource that includes a cost for electricity delivery and electricity supply. We have no choice in who delivers electricity to our homes and businesses. In Watertown, that is always Eversource. But we do have a choice in who we pay for our electricity supply.

LETTER: Ongoing Concerns – Parks, Recreation and Athletic Facilities

To: Watertown Parks and Recreation SubcommitteeFor the past several months, I have been active as a resident to continue monitoring of items related to Parks, Recreation and Athletics for the Town of Watertown. More specifically, focusing on our recreation and athletic facilities as well as the policies which guide their use. I have attended meetings, shared documents, discussed issues by phone, email and texts with different levels of leadership, presented at the Open Forum time frame at the Council, School Committee as well as sharing major issues with the Commission on Disability, Traffic Commission and to your Parks and Recreation subcommittee. I have and will continue to be respectful, yet enthusiastic / determined in regard to this passion I have in hopes of making sure the leadership of Watertown makes the best decisions, is honest, informed, transparent, and eƯective with regards to our Recreation, Athletic and Park Facilities. Certainly, there have been many positive accomplishments over the years, but there have been many missteps, omissions, and poor decisions as well.

Nine Watertown Athletes Named Middlesex League Winter All-Stars, One Named MVP

Several Watertown High School athletes received League All-Star honors, including members of the boys and girls basketball teams, boys and girls wrestling, and boys ice hockey. The Middlesex League has announced its All-Star rosters for the 2024-2025 winter sports season, with nine Raiders athletes taking home All-Star or All-Conference honors across five sports.

Charles River Conservancy & State Rep. Owens Hosting Earth Day Clean Up

An Earth Day clean up of the Charles River in Watertown and Cambridge will be hosted by State Rep. Steve Owens and the Charles River Conservancy. The event will be on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. See information in the announcement from State Rep. Owen’s below. Mt. Auburn St. Project: Traffic & Pedestrian Signal Work, Bus Stop Moves Back to Normal Spot

The City of Watertown provided the following information about the Mt. Auburn Street Project. Update:  The bus stop for Route 71 at Mount Auburn St and Bigelow Ave that was temporarily relocated will resume its normal location on Saturday April 5, 2025. For more details on Route 71, visit the MBTA’s schedules and maps. Intersection of Mount Auburn Street & Arlington Street Electrical Traffic and Pedestrian Signal Work

Starting Monday April 7, 2025 Newport Construction will be installing traffic electrical conduit (underground electrical pipes) at the intersection of Mount Auburn Street and Arlington Street.  

Traffic ImpactsTemporary lane shifts may occur and work will take place on the sidewalks, but will remain open and accessible.
