Registration for Middlesex Sheriff’s Youth Public Safety Academy Opens Soon

The following announcement was provided by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office:

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian is pleased to announce registration for the 2025 Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA) will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. YPSA is an educational and affordable summer program that is open to all children – ages 8-12 – living in Middlesex County (link to promotional video). Older children also have the opportunity to participate as a Counselor-in-Training. Held at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) Training Academy in Chelmsford, YPSA is comprised of five, one-week camps. Registration is $100 per child (per week) and includes transportation to and from designated bus stops; daily breakfast, lunch and snacks; and a graduation ceremony held each Friday.

The Historical Society of Watertown & the Watertown Free Public Library Presents: “The Press and the American Revolution and Watertown’s most famous printer, Benjamin Edes,” a slide show and talk by Gary Gregory. Without the printing presses of Boston, we wouldn’t have had a revolution! Why was Boston such a hot bed of sedition and incubator of the American Revolution? How did the printing press impact Boston’s rise to rebellion? How were newspapers produced and by whom?

Registration for Watertown Recreation’s Spring & Summer Programs Opening Soon

Registration will open on March 19 for Watertown Recreation’s spring and summer programs, including the Pequossette Summer Program. Programs are available for kids, teens, and adults, including: pickleball, tennis, arts, Pokemon Adventure Club, archery, zumba, skateboarding, fencing, pilates, summer sports clinics, the summer adult basketball leagues and more. Christian and Unitarian Universalist clergy will offer perspectives on the unjust circumstances that have been and continue to be imposed on the Palestinian people of Gaza and elsewhere in historic Palestine. Three Watertown Actors Take the Stage for Production of “Into the Woods”

Three Watertown residents will take the stage April 5-12 in Weston Friendly Society’s “Into the Woods.” Playing the role played by Meryl Streep in the 2014 film, Marcelle Durrenberger is The Witch who sets things in motion by promising to undo a curse so that she can be beautiful. Cinderella’s two stepsisters are also Watertown residents. Jill Craig plays Florinda and Allie Villa plays Lucinda.
