Local Bank Makes Fortune List of Fastest Growers, Named a Sm-All Star

Belmont Savings Bank, which has a branch in Watertown Square, received two national recognitions, one for being one of the fastest growing companies and another for being one of the top Small Cap banks. 

Belmont Savings Ranked in Fortune’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies

Belmont Savings Bank, a full-service Massachusetts savings bank serving the town of Belmont, MA and other surrounding towns, announced that it was ranked 41st on Fortune Magazine’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies List in 2017. The top 100 performers were ranked according to growth in revenues, profits, and stock returns over a three-year period and were chosen from over 3000 companies listed on U.S. exchanges. This year, only five Massachusetts companies were named to Fortune magazine’s 100 fastest-growing companies list. Belmont Savings was the sole bank from New England to receive this recognition. It is one of only seven savings banks included in this highly selective list.

Some Stores Staying Open During Arsenal Yards Construction, Others Closing

Workers have been doing work to prepare for the beginning of construction of Arsenal Yards – the project that will transform the Arsenal Mall into a development with shopping, entertainment, dining, apartments and a hotel. During construction some stores will remain open, while others will shut their doors. During the construction of Arsenal Yards several stores will remain open, all in the section near Marshall’s. The stores are Marshall’s, Gap Outlet, Ann Taylor Factory, T-Mobile, Piercing Pagoda, and Chipotle, according to Boylston Properties, the developer of the mall. In addition, the food court, including Burger King and Subway, will remain open until early 2018.

Warehouse off Pleasant Street Renovated and Sold for $15 Million

Calare Properties (Calare), a private Massachusetts-based real estate investment firm and operator, announced that it has sold 20 Seyon Street in Watertown, Mass. for $15 million, with 100 percent of the 94,268 SF property leased through January 2024. Calare sent out the following press release:

Calare purchased the warehouse distribution facility, located on 5-acres of land, in 2015 with a strategic plan to increase asset value through capital improvements and lease extensions. The property is located in immediate proximity to Interstates 90 and 95 within a thriving mixed-use corridor home to national retailers and several Class A apartment and condominium communities. “20 Seyon Street’s position in a high-demand warehouse and flex market, coupled with the attractive features of the site, established this property as a prime investment for Calare’s industrial focused investment strategy in the market,” said Todd Barclay VP of Acquisitions.
