Old Navy Closing its Arsenal Mall Store on Thursday!

The Old Navy store in the Arsenal Mall will be closing its doors on Thursday, July 27.

On Wednesday evening, the shelves were almost empty, the walls stripped and manikins were being removed by employees. The store had a sign out front Wednesday announcing the closing and encourage shoppers to go to the location in Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Old Navy is located inside one of the historic buildings in the mall, which will be renovated as part of the transformation of the mall into a mixed use complex known as Arsenal Yards. That building and the one where Marshall’s is located will be part of the first phase of construction at Arsenal Yards. In the second phase, which was approved in mid-July, a new building will be constructed along Arsenal Street in what is now the parking lot and will have retail along with a Hampton Inn & Suites hotel and a multi-story garage.

New Owners Want to Transform Arsenal Street Gas Station

Paul and Alberta Zoummar purchased East Coast Gas in June, and they want to bring new life to the Arsenal Street gas station. The station across from the Arenal on the Charles was renovated about a year ago, complete with adding a building on the site, putting up a canopy over the pumps and replacing the underground tanks. Zoummar already owned stations in Brighton and Quincy and when he saw East Coast Gas for sale he went for it. “I’m in the business, already,” Zoummar said. “I liked the location, considering it is right on Arsenal Street.”
