Governor Wants to Know if Businesses Had Losses Due to Bad Weather

Gov. Charlie Baker will be applying for federal relief for businesses in Massachusetts that had losses due to the recent stretch of bad weather, and the Watertown Belmont Chamber of Commerce can help. 

Businesses are being asked to participate in a survey organized by chambers of commerce and business groups to gauge the impact of the winter weather. The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5SNZLYS

New Chief Clinical Officer Will Oversee Harvard Vanguard in Watertown

Atrius Health announced this week that Brookline resident Steven Lampert, MD, MBA has been named Chief Clinical Officer for the organization, as well as Interim Senior Vice President of its Urban/River Region, including theHarvard Vanguard Medical Associates office in Watertown. As Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Lampert will work closely with Atrius Health’s Regional Medical Directors to ensure that day-to-day delivery of care meets system-wide standards and achieves organization-wide performance targets. In his role as Interim Senior Vice President of the Urban/River Region, Lampert will be responsible for the overall financial and clinical performance of the region, which includes Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates practices in Boston’s Kenmore neighborhood, Post Office Square, and Copley Square, as well as the practices in Medford, Somerville, Cambridge and Watertown, according to the announcement from Atrius. “Dr. Lampert brings a wealth of experience to our senior leadership team,” said Daniel Burnes, MD, Transition CEO of Atrius Health. “We are excited to welcome him into these new roles and trust that he will ensure that exceptional care is delivered to our patients in the Urban/River Region.”

Dr. Lampert began his medical career in 1982 at the Lown Cardiovascular Group in Brookline, MA as an associate cardiologist and later a partner.

Draft of Watertown’s New Design Standards Revealed, Planning Board to Review

A set up new rules for how commercial and large residential projects can built in Watertown has been revealed, the Planning Board will soon review them at a public meeting. The design guidelines – recommendations for how projects will be built – and design standards – legally binding rules – have been months in the making. In August, when residents pushed for a moratorium on new developments after a number of unpopular projects were built on Pleasant Street and others proposed for Arsenal Street, The Town Council decided instead to to hire a consultant to create the new design guidelines and design standards. DRAFT Design Standards – The recommended Design Standards Document is a companion to the Design Guidelines Book and identifies recommendations  to update the Zoning Ordinance.  The document has recommended amendment language by Zoning Article.

Watertown Savings Bank Appoints New Operations Manager

Watertown Savings Bank CEO Ronald D. Dean announced that Jan M. Viglirolo recently joined Watertown Savings Bank as Assistant Vice President, Operations Manager. Viglirolo comes to WSB most recently from Mansfield Bank where she served as Vice President of Deposit Operations. Prior to that, Viglirolo worked 32 years at Belmont Savings Bank, also as the Vice President of Deposit Operations. “We are fortunate to add Jan to our management team,” said WSB Vice President, Operations Officer Lisa Nichols. “Jan has managed the deposit operations function for many years and has experience utilizing many of the same products and systems we have here at WSB.”

See How Much Home Prices in Watertown Rose from 2013 to 2014

While fewer Watertown homes sold in 2014 than the prior year, real estate sales prices rose.  

A study of the town’s real estate market in 2013 compared to 2014 by McGeough Lamacchia Realty found that real estate prices rose 7.17 percent to$497,416, while 23 fewer homes were sold (487). This shows “continuing to show that Watertown remains a desirable place to live,” the report reads. In 2014, 104 single family homes sold, down from 127 in 2013. The average price was $547,758, 11.7 percent higher than the 2013 average ($490,212).

Investment Firm Purchases Nearly 100,000 Sq. Ft. Facility in Watertown

Calare Properties, a private, Massachusetts-based investment firm with a focus on industrial real estate, announced this week that it has purchased a 94,268 square-foot mixed-use facility for $11 million. The facility located on 5 acres at 20 Seyon St. is currently 100 percent occupied, according to an announcement from Calare. The seller was represented by Bill Moylan, Chris Angelone, John Meador, and Bruce Lusa of CBRE|New England in the transaction. “20 Seyon is an attractive investment for Calare that we believe will provide stable, long-term cash flow and a strong risk-adjusted return,” commented Andrew Iglowski, director of Calare.
