State Offering New Round of Pandemic Grants to Small Businesses

Grants are available for small businesses hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. A new round of grants for small businesses negatively impacted by the pandemic has been announced by state officials. Sectors given priority for the grants include restaurants, hair and nail salons, gyms and fitness, indoor recreation, event support and independent retailers. The Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation (MGCC) has up to $668 million available to support businesses in sectors experiencing the most significant economic hardship and a loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The application deadline is Jan.

Tufts Health Plan’s Merger Approved, New Organization Moving Out of Town

Watertown-based Tufts Health Plan received approval to merge with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, with the merged organization moving out of Town. Plans for the merger first came out in late-May, with the new health services organization moving to the former Reebok headquarters in Canton. Tufts’ main offices has been located in Watertown in the former Western Electric Co. since 1997. Harvard Pilgrim is currently headquartered in Wellesley. The merger officially occurred on Jan.

Marijuana Dispensary Hosting Community Meeting to Discuss Potential Move

Natural Selections, Watertown’s first medical marijuana dispensary, will be opening soon. Watertown’s first marijuana dispensary, Natural Selections, seeks to move when the lease at its current location expires. A Community Meeting will be held to discuss the proposed new location on Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. It will be held remotely via Zoom. The dispensary opened in July for medical marijuana sales and in December started recreational sales.

Community Meetings Planned on Proposal for Former Miller’s Ale House Site

The developers of the building where Miller’s Ale House was located have scheduled two community meetings to go over a proposal for a new building, which calls for creating space for life science companies. The proposal calls for adding a third floor and a penthouse on top of the existing structure at 617 Arsenal St., near the intersection with Greenough Boulevard.
