LETTER: Candidate Sees Shortcuts in Watertown Schools’ Goals

Dear Watertown,

I want to encourage Watertown citizens to consider the 2015/2016 Superintendent’s goals and the learning goals discussed at the August 10th School Committee meeting. Goal setting is a powerful tool that school districts use to achieve purposeful results. Goals help schools focus energy, attention, resources, and motivation. They inspire commitment and action or, in their absence, inaction. Watertown Public Schools (WPS) is a ~$45 million per year education system, serving 2700+ diverse students with a staff of approximately 550 people.

Final Watertown Summer Concert Features Country, Bluegrass Music

The final Watertown Summer Concert of the season will feature the acoustic country and bluegrass music of Amy Gallatin and Stillwater. In a review of the group’s most recent recording – Everything I Wanted Love To Be – Bluegrass Unlimited magazine wrote: “Put plainly, Amy Gallatin is a fine and appealing vocalist, with a warmth, incisiveness, and sincerity to engagingly deliver a range of songs. You might hear echoes of singers as great and as varied as Emmylou Harris or Hazel Dickens, but all the while you’ll savor Gallatin’s distinctive personal style.” Find out more about Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters and listen to a sample of their music on their website by clicking here. The concert runs from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Saltonstall Park – next to Town Hall.
