Revels Announces In-Person Spring Sing Concert

Wave goodbye to winter surrounded by budding forsythia and sprigs of green at this joyful, reimagined, annual celebration of spring filled with music, fun, and song! Join us for our annual celebration of the vernal equinox on Sunday, March 20, as we officially welcome in the spring! This year, Revels Spring Sing, our annual giant sing-along, is moving from Watertown to Somerville’s spacious Center for the Arts at the Armory and will feature longtime Revels friend and Boston jazz legend Stan Strickland as bandleader, saxophonist and vocal soloist. Stan will be joined by colleagues on keyboard, bass and drums to round out the Stan Strickland Revels Jazz Quartet.

Pieces from Watertown artist Ruth Henry’s show “When We Are Silent.” The following announcement was provided by the exhibit organizers:

When We Are Silent is a new solo exhibition by artist Ruth K. Henry on view at the Gorse Mill Gallery (31 Thorpe Road, Needham MA) from March 7th, 2022 to March 26th, 2022. Opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 12th from 6-9 pm. Masks are required. Food and drinks will be available outdoors.

The Armenian Museum of America recently announced its Ninth Online Concert featuring an exclusive performance by the Artyom Manukyan Quartet. This Armenia-based electro-jazz ensemble features Arman Mnatsakanyan (drums), Arman Peshtmaljyan (keyboards), Karen Mamikonyan (keyboards), and Artyom Manukyan (cello). The concert will be shown online on Sunday, Feb.

YardArt: Townwide Outdoor Art Exhibition Returns to Watertown

City of WatertownYardArt is back in 2022. Watertown residents can display their art and get on the official map. Watertown residents can tap their creative side and beat the winter blues by participating in YardArt 2022. The second annual outdoor art exhibition begins Friday March 4 and runs through April 3. Entry is free, but participants must register to get onto the YardArt website and onto the official map, said Liz Helfer, the City’s Public Arts & Culture Planner.

Improv Group Brings Star Wars Parody to Mosesian Center for the Arts

On February 25 through 27, Boston’s best comedy club, Improv Asylum, landspeeds from its performance space in Boston’s North End to a theater not so far, far away. Known for its mix of improv and sketch comedy, the stellar group of comedians will premiere its newest show at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. Taylor, The Next Jedi: An Improvised Star Wars Parody is a fun-filled interactive show where the audience shapes the newest legendary story inspired by our favorite interstellar characters. Each show is driven by audience suggestions, and the star of the show, “Taylor, the Next Jedi,” is picked from the audience. Lightsaber fights, stormtroopers, and of course a Dark Lord (also an audience member) make this immersive and interactive show perfect for Star Wars lovers young and old.
