Watertown Seeks Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatcher

The City of Watertown seeks qualified applicants for a Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatcher to process emergency calls for assistance in an expeditious and accurate manner at the Police Department. Hours: Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 8 hours of training per week for three months, including one week of full-time training. Shifts will be required to work night, weekend and/or holiday schedules. Salary: This is a non-union, non-benefit eligible position with a starting rate of $38.73 per hour. Watertown Summer Basketball League Finals Begin Tonight!

The best-of-three series begins Tuesday night at the court outside the Watertown Boys & Girls Club at Saltonstall Park. 2024 Watertown Arts Market Features Artists, Music, Authors, Food & More

The Watertown Arts Market returns to Filippello Park in 2024, with dozens of artists, along with musicians, authors, food, and more at the event, which is free to enter. The Watertown Arts Market will be held on the Grove Street side of Filippello Park (191 Grove St.) on Saturday, Aug. 17, from noon to 5 p.m. (Rain date Sunday, Aug. 18). The annual event began in 2021, and is a place for Watertown’s artists and cultural organizations in Watertown to share their work. 

More than 50 artists, authors, creatives, musicians and music teachers, arts and culture organizations will set up on the Filippello Park basketball courts, including painters, photographers, jewelry makers, fiber artists, printmakers, ceramic makers, and more.

Armenian Museum Seeks to Fill Three Job Openings

The Armenian Museum of America in Watertown seeks to fill three positions: an administration and development associate, a curator, and a visitor services representative. The following information came from the Museum:

The Armenian Museum of America is recruiting an Administration and Development Associate to support the Executive Director and other team members in implementing an annual plan for events, exhibitions, fundraising, and membership. The ideal candidate will be able to work full-time Monday through Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours. The Curator collaborates with the Museum leadership team and Exhibition Committee on a long-range exhibition program and related curatorial activities. The ideal candidate oversees three floors of gallery space, from a large contemporary art gallery space on the third floor, as well as installations and gallery rotations on two other floors reflecting Armenian history and culture from the ancient period to the present, often in collaboration with Armenian scholars and artists/specialists.

Beth Israel Lahey Health Opens Multi-Service Office in Watertown

The following information was provided by Beth Israel Lahey Health:

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) has opened a new multispecialty site in Watertown. The site, known as the BILH Care Center – Watertown, is located at 480 Pleasant St. and includes primary care and obstetrics and gynecology services. Additional specialty services and an urgent care center will be opened at the site over the next several months. Primary care and urgent care services will be provided by clinicians from BILH Primary Care, and the specialty services will be provided by clinicians from Mount Auburn Hospital.

Calling All Creative Writers! Please join the Lit Squad as part of the Watertown Arts Market (WAM) on Saturday August 17, 12-5 PM, at Filippello Park; rain date, August 18. We are a newly gathered group of published and amateur writers, young and forever-young Watertown residents, who seek to promote poetry and all literary arts here in this diverse community. We encourage all forms of expressive writing (as opposed to technical or academic), with general readers in mind. Languages other than English must include the English translation.

Senior Citizens Invited to Cookout Hosted by Watertown Rotary

Watertown seniors are invited to the annual FREE Senior Citizen Cookout hosted by the Rotary Club of Watertown. This year’s Senior Cookout will take place on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Sons of Italy Hall, 520 Pleasant St., Watertown. Enjoy hamburger, hot dogs, pizza. There will be prizes, giveaways, and entertainment will be provided by DJ Richard Picceri and Mass Motion Dance Studios.
