High pressure takes over to end the week, keeping Friday warm and sunny ahead of a cold front that ushers in cooler, crisp air for the weekend. Nights dip into the 40s, giving a real taste of fall. By early next week, a warming trend builds, with highs well into the 70s and possibly low 80s by Tuesday. The overall stretch favors dry, pleasant conditions with plenty of sunshine.
Watertown Boys Soccer’s third home game of the early season, and first at Victory Field, was a 5-0 win versus Stoneham Wednesday under the lights. Two first-half goals by senior midfielder Gavin Foley was topped by fellow senior midfielder Aidan Anker, who scored three goals in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Declan Chapron pitched his second shutout of the week, following up a 1-0 shutout over Woburn on Monday.
It’s looking like a sunny and entertaining weekend in town! The slower summer weekends are past, and our event venues are definitely in the eventing mood. I’m sorry to tell you that the New England AcroFest is sold out (Give that a search if you haven’t heard of it.), but there is more enjoyment to be had. Why wait for October to celebrate Oktoberfest? The Mighty Squirrel Brewery will be at it all weekend, including a stein holding competition on Friday evening and an oompah band on Saturday afternoon. Or a sunny Saturday afternoon might take you to Arsenal Park for the annual Armenian BBQ. Feeling like some entertainment for the whole family? There’s a magician puppeteer putting on Good News Gus! at the Mosesian Sunday afternoon. Mount Auburn Cemetery is offering a Forest Bathing experience for a peaceful meditative time surrounded by their majestic trees. Finally, for those who love getting out on the ice, consider developing some new or improved hockey skills this and future Sunday evenings at the hockey skills clinic at the Watertown ice rink.
