This week, Watertown said goodbye to a man who devoted his life to three things: family, business, and the community. Thousands lined up in the cold weather for his wake on Tuesday, and on Wednesday hundreds sat in the pews at St. Patrick’s Church for the funeral of John S. Airasian.

The Senior Center hosted dozens of veterans and other guests on Monday to pay tribute to Watertown’s current and former military servicemen and women the day before Veterans Day.

There’s always another game is a common-used cliche in sports, but come tournament-time that couldn’t be further from the truth. On this night, either the Bears of Greater New Bedford (GNB), the No. 4 seed at 17-4, or the Raiders of Watertown, the No. 13 seed at 10-2-7, would be left with no choice but to look back on a successful season, but left feeling empty. Unfortunately, it’s the Raiders left feeling that way after coming up short at Greater New Bedford 4-2 in the MIAA Div. 3 Round of 16 Boys Soccer Tournament.
Watertown’s five-year capital plan for Fiscal Years 2026-30 by the has 51 items, including replacing Watertown Middle School, road repair, and renovating parts of the Victory Field complex. The City Council voted to recommend the budget be included in City Manager George Proakis’ Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget.
Registration will open on March 19 for Watertown Recreation’s spring and summer programs, including the Pequossette Summer Program.

Three Watertown residents will take the stage April 5-12 in Weston Friendly Society’s “Into the Woods.” Playing the role played by Meryl Streep in the 2014 film, Marcelle Durrenberger is The Witch who sets things in motion by promising to undo a curse so that she can be beautiful. Cinderella’s two stepsisters are also Watertown residents. Jill Craig plays Florinda and Allie Villa plays Lucinda.

Watertown Council Vice President and District C Councilor Vincent Piccirilli spoke with former Council President Clyde Younger, host of the Eye on Watertown Podcast. Topics covered included housing and the MBTA Communities Law, the City logo, and Piccirilli’s possible political future.
