The following announcement was provided by the Mosesian Center for the Arts:

The year 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the time when Armenian American artist ArshileGorky lived in Watertown. Gorky endured personal tragedies from fleeing his village during the Armenian genocide and later losing his mother at a young age. After arriving in America in 1920 he was able to pursue his passion for art and create work that reflected his traumatic past. Gorky’s biomorphic abstractions hold an important place in 20th century art.

Weather Forecast: Spring Temperatures, Including Unseasonably Warm Sunday

Spring is making its presence known, with a stretch of mild temperatures and changing conditions. The period begins with seasonable highs in the 50s before a significant warm-up arrives over the weekend, peaking on Sunday with unseasonably warm temperatures near 68°F. However, this warmth comes with an active weather pattern — expect increasing clouds and gusty south winds ahead of a Sunday night into Monday storm system that will bring heavy rain and strong winds. After the rain clears, a dry and pleasant stretch settles in, with highs climbing into the 60s by midweek. A classic March pattern — fluctuating conditions, but signs of spring are certainly emerging!

WEEKEND FUN: Sci-Fi Movie, Children’s Theater, Interactive Art Workshop, Pint-Sized Yoga & More

If I were you, I would start this weekend at the movies. Mickey 17 is playing at the Majestic 7, and it’s worth a trip. It’s a unique sci-fi story with a captivating plot. If you have children in tow, however, the Watertown Children’s Theatre musical, Finding Nemo, would be a fun alternative for a weekend theater show. On Saturday afternoon, the muralist and painter, Bren Bataclan, is teaching a hands-on art workshop at the library. Art is a great escape from the world’s troubles. Parents and children can be creative at interactive art workshops hosted by Gore Place (which is both in Watertown and Waltham) on Saturday. Another very fun alternative for Saturday afternoon is a mini-golf fundraiser for cancer research at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church. On Sunday morning, after a leisurely breakfast, if you happen to have a child from 4-6, head over to pint-sized yoga at the library. No 4-6 year old? Then relax and enjoy your day off or catch the movie that you missed on Friday night.
