The biotech industry, while slowed, still has some life in Watertown, according to a recently published study. The City boasts the third most life science firms of any community in Massachusetts, the fourth most venture capital investmentd, and 20 new firms came to town in 2025.

Watertown Hockey Wins Double Overtime Thriller in State Tournament

For a moment, the Watertown-Wayland boys hockey team’s season ended Wednesday at John A. Ryan Arena, but then the sudden death tally by Pembroke was ruled “no goal” by the referees. The Raiders used their new lease on life to score the winner in the 4-3 double overtime and propel the team to the Round of 16 of the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament.

This weekend I’ve decided to only include activities that are free, and what interesting ones there are! On Friday morning, should you not be working, there is a community chat at the Mosesian Center for creative people of all types this week featuring a singer/songwriter. Catch the Watertown High School Musical this weekend. Friday evening, there is a very unique tasting at Gordon’s Fine Wine. Now is your chance to see what Chica Chida Peanut Butter Agave Spirit tastes like. Aren’t you curious? On Saturday, Mt. Auburn Cemetery will celebrate the birthday of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (which is Feb. 27) by reading historic poetry of the Revolutionary War period, eating birthday cake, and visiting his grave site. Then on Sunday, head back to the library, for what looks like a fabulous concert with Grace Givertz, a multi-instrumentalist whose music is a mix of folk, Americana and indie rock.

Weather Forecast: Snow & Rain Friday Night Followed by Mix of Temperatures

Watertown residents can expect a dynamic stretch of weather as February transitions into March. A seasonable and breezy Friday will give way to a weak system bringing a mix of snow and rain Friday night into Saturday morning. Temperatures will briefly rise into the 50s on Saturday before a cold front moves through, ushering in a sharp temperature drop and another shot of winter air. Sunday and Monday will be noticeably colder, with highs struggling to reach 30°F and bitter nighttime lows. A gradual warming trend begins on Tuesday, with milder temperatures before a significant storm system brings widespread rain and gusty winds by midweek.

Watertown’s Vatche Arabian teamed with Adam Roffman of Medford to create a movie about a century of filmmaking in Massachusetts. The film will be shown in Somerville, with a Q&A with the filmmakers on March 9. See more information in the announcement from the filmmakers below.
