The entry lobby in City Hall is beginning to look like a room at the Museum of Fine Arts, with the addition of signs to accompany the recently restored historical paintings of Watertown.

A pair of Watertown wrestlers faced the Bay State’s best in the All-State Meet in Springfield on Sunday, and one picked up a milestone win.

The City of Watertown will give residents a break from the sidewalk snow shoveling rules after the blizzard of Jan. 22 and 23 dumped around 15 inches of snow on top of snow remaining from the storm in January. But the overnight parking ban — scheduled to end on Feb. 28 — will be in place until further notice. This winter’s storms have already sapped Watertown’s snow and ice fund for the winter, so the Council approved additional dollars to be spent on snow removal.

City Manager George Proakis asked the City Council to consider changing the hours for City Hall, along with the Senior Center, to half days on Fridays because it would help with recruitment of employees and added that Friday afternoons are slow for City departments.

Registration has opened for spring classes for youth and adults in visual and performing arts at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, and registration continues for summer youth programs. A call for art for a spring exhibition is also open.

A committee of residents and property owners will be created to study what salary should be paid to Watertown City Councilors.
Watertown’s Grace Chapel, 525 Main St., announced it will host an Easter Egg Hunt for kids of all ages on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, March 5, 2024 I attended the meeting of the Sub-Committee on Rules and Ordinances in support of a petition signed by over 200 residents. Those signing the petition were requesting consideration of adding One (1) additional minute on the two (2) Public Forums in order to allow a resident additional time, if required, to complete their plea. As an alumnus of the Watertown Council, I was dumbfounded to hear some of the discussion with one of the Councilors saying we give them four minutes when other communities give none.
