Businesses in Coolidge Square will face some disruptions from the construction taking place over the spring, summer, and fall of 2026. Sidewalks will be ripped up and replaced as part of the Mt. Auburn Street Project.

In the wake of the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank, Watertown Savings’ President and CEO Brett Dean sent out a message to customers saying that the local bank is “safe, secure and insured.”

All residents of Watertown who are high school seniors and applying to college are eligible for Watertown Rotary Scholarships. The amount of each award and the number of scholarships granted are determined on a yearly basis.

The City Manager is closing City Hall, the Library, and the Senior Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, as storm conditions are expected to worsen this afternoon. All afterschool and evening recreation programs are also canceled.
The Watertown Community Fridge is an outdoor refrigerator and small food pantry located at the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church, 80 Mt. Auburn St., near Watertown Square. It is maintained solely by volunteers.

The City of Watertown announced a snow emergency on March 14 for the storm expected to turn to snow Tuesday afternoon. Overnight parking and after school activities will be impacted.
Watertown’s Fred Grandinetti had his book about Popeye cartoons of the 1960s accepted into the Library of Congress’ reference collection. He is pictured with Popeye and Brutus dolls which represent how they looked in the cartoons of the era covered by the book.
A Watertown author recently had one of his titles added to The Library of Congress’ reference collection.
