Watertown High School Alums Guide Stonehill to Field Hockey Win

Two former Watertown Raiders scored goals in Stonehill College’s 4-0 win over Bentley in field hockey on Wednesday. Junior Lauren Giordano scored the lone goal of the first half just 2:57 in to the game and the first one in the second half as the fifth-ranked nationally Skyhawks won the game played in Waltham. Fellow Watertown grad Erika Kelly finished the scoring for Stonehill. She also earned an assist in the game, which improved the Skyhawks to 4-0. Giordano scored her third game-winning goal of the year against Bentley.

WHS Sports: Field Hockey, Soccer Kick Off Season, Football Schedule

The Raiders hit the field for another season this week, taking on their rivals from Belmont. Watertown’s field hockey team defeated Belmont 4-0 in season opener at Victory Field. The Raiders next host Arlington on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

The Raiders boys soccer team starts the season with two home games. First they face Belmont on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Victory Field, and then host Arlington on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The girls soccer soccer team hits the road for the first two games against Belmont and Arlington. They come home to face Winchester on Thursday at Moxley Field.

In case you missed the Fox 25 Morning News’ visit to Watertown, they had plenty going on at Victory Field Friday morning. Fox 25 made its first Zip Trip of the year to Watertown, and the news crew interviewed a variety of folks from around town. Hometown Heroes were two of the Watertown Police officers, Sgt. John MacLellan and Sgt. Jeff Pugliese, who  involved in the shootout with the Boston Marathon Bombing suspects.
