The Mosesian Center for the Arts is excited to showcase a variety of artworks that are inspired by science. Artists and scientists are alike in many ways. Both are known for their creativity, careful observation of the world around them and a big dose of determination. Both the artists and the scientists spend a long time in pursuit of their calling.

REVIEW: SAATh Festival 2024 Brings South Asian Theater to Watertown

I went to see “Madho” last night with my mother at the Third South Asia Theatre festival, SAATh 2024, in the Boston area. A musical play set in Lahore, it is written and directed by Sarbpreet Singh, an engineer by profession whose passion is music and storytelling. Based on the timeless tale of the Sufi poet Shah Hussain and the Brahmin youth Madho Laal, who became known as one entity, the story also highlights the syncretic culture of this region.

Weekend Fun: Faire on the Square, New Art Exhibit, South Asian Theater, Meet John Hancock

Quickly, before the library parking lot is shut on Saturday, take your kiddos to the sing-along on Friday morning. The adults in the family could go see the beautiful art exhibit of photo-realistic paintings at the Armenian Museum of America. I love the photo they show on the website.  Saturday afternoon, many in Watertown will be heading to the Faire on the Square. It’s time to grab some free candy or swag at the booths, hang out to hear some music, and hit the rides.

Here are some of our classes starting very soon! Beginning and Intermediate Painting with Acrylic

Paint with acrylics in this class for all levels of painters. Beginners embark on exercises exploring color, value, and composition.

Weekend Fun: Field Hockey, Films, Make Chinese Lanterns & Chinese Wrestling Demo

This Friday evening, you are either going to be very busy or you have to make some difficult choices. Because it’s early, if you aren’t working late, you can catch the Watertown field hockey game at Victory Field. All Watertownians should know that we are known statewide as having an outstanding field hockey team. Then there are two film choices, Beetlejuice and a pajama party, or the International Indian Film festival of Boston. You could don your sari for the Indian film festival or your dino pjs at the Majestic 7.

Actors’ Shakespeare Project Begins Partnership With Watertown’s Mosesian Center

The Mosesian Center for the Arts will once again have a resident company when the Actors’ Shakespeare Project moves in this fall. The theater company’s inaugural event at the MCA will be Refresh, a celebration of ASP and a preview of the season, which includes plays by three giants of stage and literature: Jane Austen, August Wilson, and William Shakespeare. Weekend Fun: International Music, Kung Fu, Recreational Baseball, Art Exhibit & More

Olespana in Coolidge Square. I suggest starting this weekend with a peaceful stroll through the art exhibit at the Mosesian Center that ends this Friday. It is showing the art of their teachers as well as their students, and there are some beautiful pieces on exhibit. Then, Saturday, take any 4-10 year olds to the library to see a martial arts display to motivate them to get out explore the physical arts. In the afternoon, you and your honey (or your friend) can learn how to connect in healthier ways in the Art of Receiving and Giving workshop.
