Drainage Work on Mt. Auburn Street This Week, No Construction Monday

While the majority of the Mt. Auburn Street Project has paused for the winter, drainage work continues on small portions of the roadway. See details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Work is not scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026, due to the holiday.

Crews will perform drainage installation on Mount Auburn Street between Richards Road and Oakley Road. Traffic and Sidewalk Impacts

During this work, you can expect temporary lane shifts and possibly lane closures, but one travel lane in each direction will be maintained on Mount Auburn Street.

Mt. Auburn St. Project: Construction Season Over, Off-Season Work Focusing on Drainage

Most of the roadwork on Mt. Auburn Street has stopped for the winter, but there will be some smaller projects during the off-season. See details in the announcement from the City of Watertown. Lane Shifts & Parking Restrictions on Parts of Mt. Auburn St. This Week

Crews will be working overnight on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, beginning at 7:00 PM to adjust and complete the temporary traffic line striping on Mount Auburn Street between the Cambridge line and Arlington Street.

As the construction season winds down, we’d like to take a moment to highlight the work completed along Mount Auburn Street. While the more extensive road work is planned to come back in the spring, MassDOT and Newport Construction has made progress this season in working towards a safer, more accessible, and welcoming street. This year’s efforts focused on two major segments: the Cambridge line to Arlington Street and Arlington Street to Boylston Street.

Parking Restrictions, Lane Shifts for Work on Man Holes, Drainage on Mt. Auburn Street

From Nov. 24 to 26, drivers will see lane shifts and parking restrictions on two stretches of Mt. Auburn Street as crews raise man holes and install drainage. See details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Raising Buried Structures

Crews will be raising buried utility structures, such as manholes and valve boxes, within the newly paved area along Mount Auburn Street between Lloyd Road and Boylston Street.

Sidewalk Closures & Parking Restrictions This Week for Mt. Auburn Street Road Work

Auburn Street Project includes lane striping, concrete pouring, drainage and tree installation, and there will be some sidewalk closures and parking restrictions in areas of construction. Traffic line striping is scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2025, beginning at 9 p.m. and lasting approximately four hours. The work will take place in the recently paved area of Mount Auburn Street between Lloyd Road and Boylston Street.
