Watertown Cable Offering Summer Youth Workshop in July

The following announcement was provided by Watertown Cable Access TV:

WCA-TV’s Youth Workshop is back this summer for children between the ages of 9 to 14. Our students will learn the basics of video production, from scriptwriting to editing. By the end of the Workshop, students will have produced a film. This Workshop will run Monday-Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. during the weeks of July 21stand 28th. This Workshop is free of charge to all students thanks to a generous grant from the Watertown Cultural Council.

WEEKEND FUN: Porchfest, Herring Fest, Dolmas, Comedy, Mario Bros.

The 2025 Herring Fest is Sunday at the Watertown Dam. Feeling feisty or even festy? This is the weekend to indulge in festivals, including, of course,  Watertown Porchfest on Saturday, a festival of local musicians that covers the whole town. While you probably know that already, you may not know about the festivals that surround Porchfest that add some variety to the weekend festivities. On Friday there is an art exhibit and an open mic comedy evening at Fort Gallery called Spring Harvest.

Watertown Cable Offering Scholarships for Watertown High School Seniors

The following announcement was provided by Watertown Cable:

The WCA-TV Board of Directors and Executive Director Andrea Santopietro are proud to officially open the application process for the Watertown Cable Access Scholarship for the Class of 2025. Deadline for applications is April 18th, 2025. (2) Scholarships are available for $500 each. Eligibility is open to any graduating student of the Class of 2025 from Watertown High School who is both:

1. Attending post-graduate education at a 2-year or 4-year institution of higher learning including colleges, universities, and vocational schools within the area of television, radio, journalism, communications, media arts or any communications related field.

Watertown Cable Invites Non-Profits and Organizations to Film PSA Segments

The following announcement was provided by Watertown Cable:

WCA-TV’s PSA Day is back! Watertown nonprofits and organizations have the opportunity to sign up to film a PSA at WCA-TV Studio on April 18th from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

WCA-TV will edit the PSA for you. All you need to do is bring an idea and script. The PSAs created will then be broadcasted on WCA-TV’s Public Channels, as well as uploaded to our site.Organizations have the option to film to coordinate with WCA-TV to film a PSA at a different location. Watertown Cable Show Focuses on Accessory Dwelling Units & Upcoming Community Dialogue

The latest episode of Inside Watertown focused on the discussion over accessory dwelling units (ADUs), which are sometimes called in-law units or granny units. The guests on the Watertown Cable show talked about the upcoming community dialogue

Cliff Cook, a member of the Watertown Affordable Housing Trust, explained what ADUs are, and how Watertown has complied with the State’s recently added zoning requirement to allow the units. However, the input from the dialogue will help City officials decide if Watertown wants to go farther and allow ADUs in more situations. The Community Dialogue on Monday, March 24 will be led by Watertown Community Conversations (WCC), explained Allison Eck, a facilitator with WCC.

Watertown Cable Show Celebrating 95 Years Popeye’s Nemesis, the Sea Hag

Watertown Cable host Fred Grandinetti will feature the 95th anniversary of a character from the Popeye cartoons on his show, Drawing with Fred. See details provided by Grandinetti, below. If you ask anyone who is Popeye’s most famous enemy, they will probably say Bluto or Brutus. Actually, it is the Sea Hag who is the last true witch on earth.

Watertown Musician to be Featured on Watertown Cable Show “Drawing With Fred”

Fred Grandinetti has been hosting his cable show “Drawing with Fred” for more than three decades, and he will kick off his latest season with a special musical guest who hails from Watertown. See more information in the announcement provided by Grandinetti:

To help launch the 33rd year of Drawing With Fred, on The Watertown Cable Access Channel, local musician, Matt Hannah, will appear. He will be included in an episode which will begin airing on January 20th and run until February 3rd. Mr. Hannah will play on his guitar Popeye the Sailor’s theme song. There also will be music themed animated cartoons
