Watertown Cable Invites Non-Profits to Record PSA Messages

Watertown Cable is inviting non-profits and other organizations to record a commercial as part of PSA Day. See information below. WCA-TV’s PSA Day is back on Friday, December 13th. Watertown nonprofits and organizations have the opportunity to  sign up to film a one minute PSA onsite in our studio or arrange to film at location. All you need to bring is your script and smile!

Hear About the City’s Communication’s Team & the New 311 System in the Latest Episode of the Watertown Cable Show

Tyler Cote, far right, and Laura Murray joined Inside Watertown Hosts Bob Airasian, far left, and Charlie Breitrose to talk about the efforts of the City’s new Communications team. Two members of the City of Watertown’s Communications Team sat down with the hosts of Inside Watertown at the Watertown Cable studio this week. They talked about efforts to speak to and hear from Watertown residents, including the new 311 Service Center. Tyler Cote, the Community Engagement Specialist, and Laura Murray, the Constituent Services Director spoke with co-hosts Bob Airasian and Charlie Breitrose. People may have seen Cote at one of his Watertown Chats or at the Watertown Farmers Market.

Non-Profits Can Tape PSA Commercials at Watertown Cable

Calling all Watertown nonprofits and organizations! We are excited to announce our Summer PSA Day on Tuesday, August 13th from 2-5 p.m.! Join us in our studio to film a one minute PSA that we will film and edit for you. They can be about your organization, upcoming initiatives, events, or anything you want to highlight! Each time slot is 30 minutes in length and we just ask that you provide a script before or by your time slot.

Watertown High School Students Learning on the Job at Local Non-Profits

The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Community Foundation:

Since 2015 the Watertown Community Foundation has made it possible for high school students in Watertown to gain valuable professional experience by funding summer internships. Nearly 70 high-schoolers have received stipends from the Watertown Community Foundation High School Internship Program since it began. This year, four students from Watertown High School will receive internship stipends from the Watertown Community Foundation to learn more about working in one of Watertown’s non-profits. Selected from a competitive field of applicants, we congratulate Evelyn Rodriguez, Kostas Jerome, Arthur Venturim, and Sherri Wu on being chosen to participate in this year’s Watertown Community Foundation High School Internship Program. These students will have internships at the City of Watertown’s Commander’s Mansion, the Watertown Free Public Library and Watertown Cable Access TV.

Residents Wanted to Serve on Cable Access Board of Directors

City Manager George J. Proakis announced he is seeking Watertown residents interested in serving on the Cable Access Corporation – Board of Directors. Interested applicants should complete and submit a Universal Application. Board/Commission/Committee:  Cable Access Corporation – Board of Directors

Description:  The Watertown Cable Access Corporation (WCA-TV) is a non-profit corporation established to ensure access to cable television channels and facilities; provide public education and training regarding the use of facilities and channels; assist in the development of educational, cultural, and informational programming, including working with local institutions and organizations to share their resources; and to operate channels and programming space. The WCA-TV mission is to provide coverage of local events, City meetings, and news, as well as access to our equipment and facility to engage our community and amplify their voices. City Manager George J. Proakis is seeking Watertown residents interested in serving on the Cable Access Corporation – Board of Directors.

Watertown Cable Running Youth Film Camp this Summer

The following announcement was provide by Watertown Cable Access TV:

WCA-TV is excited to announce their two week Youth Film Camp taking place this July! Aspiring directors, filmmakers, editors, and actors will learn the building blocks to create their own film project. Students will learn the planning, technical, and editing skills to create a project of their choice. This camp is free of charge to all students thanks to a generous grant from the Watertown Cultural Council. It is open to Watertown residents, or students enrolled at a school located in Watertown, between the ages 9-17.

Find Out What Zoning Can Do, Its Limitations and More During Broadcast Hosted by Watertown’s City Manager

The City of Watertown’s Zoning Map. Watertown’s City Manager worked for two decades in planning departments, and he will share his knowledge in a live presentation on Watertown Cable TV called, “Zoning: An Implementation Tool – Past, Present, and Future.” George Proakis will appear on the live show, and take questions during the event on June 3, beginning at 6 p.m. It can be viewed on Comcast Channel 9, RCN Channel 3, or online at WCATV.org. Proakis told Watertown News that the presentation will be based on the class he has taught at Harvard for many years. The City of Watertown provided the following information:
