Watertown Boy’s & Girl’s Club Board President Paul DerBeoghosian, left, thanks former President Brendon Kilcoyne for leading the club while searching for a new executive director.

Last week, the Watertown Boy’s & Girl’s Club celebrated a year of fun and good times at the clubhouse and the work of the outgoing board president.

The event at the Oakley Country Club raised just short of $50,000 in the club’s second biggest fundraiser of the year, said Executive Director Renee Gaudette.

“The money makes it possible to serve every child walking through the doors,” Gaudette said.

Along with running activities such as basketball, swim lessons and video games, the Boy’s & Girl’s Club also provides time and space for homework, tutors to help students and more.

For students not into traditional sports, the club has activities such as Zumba and wall climbing at Central Rock Gym.

The club also received visits from members of the Celtics, the Patriots and Blades, the Bruins’ mascot.

Gaudette came on board this year, succeeding long-time Executive Director Allen Gallagher. For a while, however, the club ran without an executive director, so the president of the Board of Directors, Brendon Kilcoyne, took over.

“Brendon took on the challenge at an important time, guiding the club at a time of transition,” said Paul DerBoghosian, president of the Board of Directors.

Kilcoyne thanked everyone for their support, but said that he did not deserve all the accolades

“I wish I could take credit, but the real credit goes to the staff,” Kilcoyne said.

The evening included a dinner, and both a live and silent auction.
