The following announcement was provided by The Lander Committee:

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu endorsed Daniel Lander in his campaign for State Senate, pointing towards his record delivering real change for Boston residents, and his focus on taking on the broken status quo in the State Senate. With her endorsement, it is clear that Lander’s campaign is catching fire in his effort to unseat Senator Will Brownsberger, the architect of the broken status quo on Beacon Hill.

“I’ve been proud to work alongside Daniel to deliver for Boston families, and I know he’ll bring that same results-driven leadership to the State Senate,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “In City Hall, Daniel worked to tackle the housing crisis, helped create Boston Family Days to make our top museums and cultural attractions free for Boston students and families, and took on national food delivery companies to make our streets safer. Daniel never backs down from a fight and he knows how to get things done. I’m confident he’ll be a champion for affordable housing, better transit, and a stronger partnership between the state and our City.”

“I’m so honored to earn the endorsement of Mayor Michelle Wu. I’ve been grateful for her mentorship as we’ve worked together to make Boston a great place for everyone to call home,” said Daniel Lander.

Mayor Wu fights on behalf of our neighbors every single day, and her urgent leadership has delivered real progress. I’m taking on the architect of the broken Beacon Hill status quo, and I look forward to continuing to partner with the Mayor to meet this moment so we can finally tackle our affordability crisis and ensure everyone can build a good life here in Massachusetts.”

From December 2021 until January 2026, Daniel served as a senior aide to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. In that role, he led numerous initiatives to make Boston more affordable and a better place to live, including:

● Leading an audit of City-owned land, identifying places where hundreds of new affordable homes can be built. When red tape was delaying construction of affordable housing, he helped author and implement an executive order to speed up the permitting process by 50%.

● Creating Boston Family Days, giving families access for free to more than 20 world class cultural institutions. More than 85,000 kids and family members have participated in the program to date.

● Building the coalition to preserve affordable musical rehearsal space in Allston Brighton, taking on an out of state corporate developer, and securing 290 North Beacon as the future home for more than 40,000 sq. ft. of music rehearsal space and new deeply affordable public housing.

Lander’s campaign continues to build significant momentum as this race heads into summer.

This month, Daniel has been endorsed by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, the Working Families Party, the AFSCME Council 93 Boston Presidents Committee, and Cambridge City Councilors Marc McGovern, Jivan Sobrino-Wheeler, Ayah Al Zubi.

Daniel Lander is running for the State Senate to take on the broken status quo and make Beacon Hill work for the people. Lander was a campaign fellow on Senator Warren’s first 2012 senate race, knocking doors to get out the vote in Cambridge. He grew up in this district, and has worked alongside progressive leaders like Mayor Michelle Wu and Stacey Abrams. Daniel believes Massachusetts can be more affordable — and a great place to build a good life. He will tackle our housing crisis, work to transform the MBTA, and stand up to the Trump administration.

The Suffolk and Middlesex District includes all of Watertown, Belmont, as well as the Fenway and Allston Brighton neighborhoods of Boston, and West Cambridge. Learn more about Daniel Lander at www.daniellander.com
