Police Log: Target Catches Serial Shoplifters, Employee Caught Stealing Cash

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Dec. 9, 3:30 p.m.: Target security spotted three people who had been in the store the day before and took items and got away before they could stop them. They suspected the three were the same people who had been scamming Target stores around the Boston area. The were seen taking clothes and video games and went to the back of the store where they placed them into target shopping bags. Then they headed toward the front of the store and went past the registers. Security stopped one woman and a man and a second woman left the store and took off in a grey Hyundai. The woman had $1,008.89 worth of merchandise on her. The 21-year-old Jamaica Plain woman was charged with larceny over $250. A second woman, a 20-year-old woman from Dorchester, was identified and was summonsed to Waltham District Court for larceny over $250

Dec. 10, 7:03 a.m.: Police arrested a 61-year-old Watertown man on a probation warrant.

Dec. 11, 1:25 p.m.: An officer on Arsenal Street spotted a car driving at a around 50 miles per hour. The car was stopped on Arsenal near Elm Street. Field sobriety tests were given and the 30-year-old Watertown man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

Dec. 12, 12:18 a.m.: A woman was found asleep behind the wheel of a car on Mt. Auburn Street at Watertown Square. Officers woke the woman and detected an odor of alcohol on the woman’s breath. Field sobriety tests were given and the 33-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, a second offense.

Dec. 13,  8:38 p.m.: Watertown Police arrested a 22-year-old Everett man who was wanted by Waltham Police for a home invasion that took place in Waltham.

Incidents

Dec. 11, 9:26 p.m.: An employee at Wet Seal in the Arsenal Project is suspected of taking $80 from the cash deposit.

Dec. 12, 2:08 p.m.: Home Depot called police after they caught an employee taking money from a register and place in her apron. She had around $1,000 in cash. The 34-year-old woman from Dorchester was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of larceny over $250.

Dec. 12, 4:45 p.m.: A package was stolen from a home on Charles Street. It was delivered that day, but when the the owner came home it was gone. An empty box was found down the street.

Dec. 12, 4:57 p.m.: A package containing two mugs was taken from Bay Street.

Dec. 13, 9:49 a.m.: A Lexington resident reported that a package was missing. It contained four shirts. It was delivered on the 10th and was missing when the resident returned.

Dec. 14, 2:53 p.m.: A woman was stopped at Target after she was concealing items in her coat. She had $219.08 in beauty products. The 63-year-old woman from New York was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
