A Watertown man’s recipe for the “Next Fenway Frank” has been chosen as a finalist in a contest where the winner’s creation will be on the menu at Red Sox games the rest of the season.
Chelsea-based Kayem, maker of Fenway Franks, hosts a contest every year calling for the “Next Fenway Frank,” in which entrants create an original Fenway Frank recipe. The winner gets their recipe on the menu at Fenway Park for the rest of the season. New for this year, the recipe will also be served at participating 99 Restaurants, according to the announcement from Kayem.
Kayem has narrowed down all the entries to five finalists and the public in now voting to pick the winner. One of those finalists is James Kubilus of Watertown. His entry is The Luau Dog.
Here’s the Luau Dog recipe:
- 1 teaspoon chopped red onion
- 1 teaspoon diced pineapple
- 1 teaspoon crushed potato chips
- 1/2 teaspoon BBQ sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon teriyaki sauce
Amounts are per individual dog, and it is important not to overload, according to the announcement. Mix teriyaki and BBQ together in bowl. Top dog with onions and pineapple. Drizzle with teriyaki/BBQ. Top with crushed potato chips.
Voting is open here http://www.kayem.com/next-fenway-frank-vote through Thursday, July 2.
Other prizes for the winner include $1,000, one year of free Kayem Franks, four tickets to the Sox game on July 27 where they’ll be honored on the field and including a hotel stay in Boston, and a $100 gift card to The Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub.
