The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Sept. 29, 11:23 p.m.: A hit-and-run accident occurred at Union Street near Eliot Street, and when police arrived they spotted a damaged vehicle a little way down the street and the driver inside. He told police he was reading a text when he hit the vehicle. Police performed field sobriety tests. The 22-year-old Waltham man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of property damage, unsafe driving and reading an electronic message while driving.
Incidents
Sept. 28, 6:04 a.m.: Employees of the Diner at 11 North Beacon Street found someone had broken into the diner overnight and forced open the cash register. A small amount of cash was taken.
Sept. 29, 5:59 a.m.: Someone broke into St. Patrick’s Church overnight and took a musical keyboard from a storage area.
Sept. 29, 7:45 a.m.: A storage shed on the back of the Gore Place property was broken into sometime over the previous month and took a Honda generator.
Sept. 30, 7:56 p.m.: Target security stopped a man who they spotted filling a shopping carriage with $319 worth of items and tried to leave the store without paying. The 28-year-old Boston man was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of shoplifting.
Oct. 1, 3:05 p.m.: A women with two teens was stopped in Target after she was seen directing the teens to take merchandise off the shelf and hide them in a cart under a jacket. A 29-year-old Boston woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for larceny over $250 and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Oct. 2, 4:02 p.m.: Two women were detained at Target after going to the clothing section and hid items in their purses. A 38-year-old Everett woman and a 41-year-old woman from Brighton were both summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
Oct. 2, 10:05 p.m.: A woman was seen putting items worth $253 in her her cart at Target and tried to leave without paying. A 38-year-old Waltham woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.
Oct. 3, 11:54 a.m.: A resident of the Charlesgate Apartments on Main Street complained that branches had been broken off a bush over the past 4 to 5 months.
Oct. 4, 3:19 a.m.: A cabbie picked up two men in Brighton and took them to Pleasant Street in Watertown. When he stopped, the men jumped out of the car and ran off without paying the $19.95 fare.
Oct. 4, 2:27 p.m.: A wallet was left under a sweater in a car parked at the Oakley Country Club. When the owner returned a few hours later, the sweater was on the ground and the wallet was gone. There were no signs of forced entry.
