H & K Insurance seeks to break its record for amount of toys donated to the Toys for Tots program this year.

During this holiday season, the joy of giving and receiving gifts is what drives the cheer and community of Watertown, but not everyone is so fortunate. That is why Toys for Tots was created, which has been able to distribute over 469 million toys to children thanks to the help of kindhearted people all over the country.

Every year, H & K Insurance Agency, Inc., in Watertown, has participated in a local Toys for Tots drive. Last year was its best toy-raising year to date, almost doubling the previous year’s donation, and with help from the community H & K hopes to increase it yet again, H & K announced.

That is where the local community comes in. Each year, CISR, CPIA, AAI Treasurer/General Manager Paul Perry and his wife, Daralyn Perry, CISR Commercial Lines Manager, have heavily contributed to Toys for Tots out of their own, but the Perry family and H & K Insurance looks to the local community to help multiply this effect.

H & K Insurance invites everyone with the means to help to bring a new, unwrapped toy to their office, located at 182 Main St. in Watertown. The toys are then picked up by ServiceMaster by Gilmore, the associate company organizing the donations, who then offer the toys to the local Marines running the drive.

These generous donations have provided gifts to children all over Massachusetts who would otherwise have a lackluster holiday season.

“Last year we nearly doubled the amount of toys we donated,” said Perry. “This year we want to break our record again and make an even bigger impact. We ask the Watertown community to stop by and help us reach our goal.”

The Toys for Tots drive at H & K Insurance began in October, and will continue to accept donations through Dec. 4. They invite patrons as well as the general public to bring in new, unwrapped toys to benefit children in need. To learn more about H & K Insurance, visit their website at www.hkinsurance.com.
