On Tuesday, March 1, Primary Election Day in Massachusetts, Democrats from across the state will vote for candidates running for the Democratic State Committee.
Our senatorial district, which is represented by State Senator Will Brownsberger and includes Watertown, Belmont and parts of Boston, has the opportunity to elect a new member to an open seat. We need a candidate who embodies progressive democratic values, who can motivate Democratic activists, and who can build the Democratic Party in Massachusetts. I believe the candidate who can do this is Steve Owens, the chair of the Watertown Democratic Town Committee for the last eight years.
Since 2006, when he ran the highly successful Watertown for Deval effort, I have watched Steve educate and inspire hundreds of volunteers to speak with confidence about Democratic candidates. He is unique among Democratic leaders, combining the wisdom and insight of an experienced political analyst with the organizational skills of a seasoned field coordinator.
Elections after election – local, state, and national – candidates, including myself, have turned to Steve for his analysis of voter preferences and his proposals for a winning campaign strategy.
We have relied on his experience working with volunteers – novices and practiced – to create a team that could make thousands of phone calls and knock on hundreds of doors.
The Democratic State Committee sets the agenda, supports candidates, and engages activists for the Democratic Party in Massachusetts. Democrats across Massachusetts will benefit from Steve’s political skill and his relentless determination to elect Democrats to office when he is elected to the Democratic State Committee. I am more than proud to endorse Steve for the Democratic State Committee and I urge all Democrats to join me in voting for Steve Owens on Tuesday, March 1.
